Building Bridges at HIMSS
| MedQuist had a significant presence at the 2008 Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) conference held Feb. 24-28 in Orlando, Florida. The MedQuist team was able to obtain many new sales leads, and six media interviews were conducted at the show. As one of the companies leading the industry to facilitate change and innovation, we welcomed the opportunity to discuss the value of an Electronic Health Record (EHR) with this audience of healthcare professionals. |

HIMSS officials reported a record-breaking number of show attendees, and the MedQuist booth enjoyed a steady flow of traffic, thanks in part to a unique and creative promotion featuring a Lego® block build. Booth visitors were invited to participate in a raffle to guess what the Lego creation would turn out to be, with the winner receiving two Disney Park Hopper passes. |
| The Lego structure was ultimately revealed to be a bridge, now on display in the lobby of the Norcross office. |

| At the HIMSS Clinical Informatics Theater, MedQuist Product Management Director Dori Dunn and customer Lee Starling, Transcription/File & Retrieval Manager at Shands at University of Florida, gave a presentation on “Taking the Paper out of Clinical Documentation with Speech Recognition.” This well-attended presentation received favorable feedback. |

In addition, as the only transcription company participating in the Integrated Healthcare Enterprise’s (IHE) Interoperability Showcase at HIMSS, MedQuist demonstrated leadership by showing how voice files routed through our speech recognition engine can be converted into structured documents meeting the interface requirements of all hospitals’ current and future EHR repositories. |
